Built by 19th century European immigrants, the approximately 20 Painted Churches of Texas have been dazzling visitors for decades with their elegant exteriors and the beautiful explosion of color and murals in their interior. Several of the Painted Chruches are located about 60 miles north of Victoria in the Schulenburg area. In fact, the 79th Legislature of the State of Texas designated Schulenburg the Official Home of the Painted Churches of Texas.
