Experience for yourself 13,000 years’ worth of Texas history at the Museum of the Coastal Bend! Numerous peoples and cultures once called this region home, and the museum brings their stories to life. A member of the La Salle Odyssey series of museums, see for yourself the very cannons that defended French settlement Fort St. Louis in 1686. Know what it was like to hunt for wooly mammoths like prehistoric peoples with atlatl spear throwing activities. Learn the rich heritage of the Texas Coastal Bend with numerous artifacts from Spanish explorers and Native American tribes. Open Tuesday-Saturday, 10AM-4PM and admission is "pay-what-you-want." Discovery where Texas history began, at the Museum of the Coastal Bend!
